| Summary: | 碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 都市計畫所 === 95 === This research discusses the management issue of existing community centers and is intended to explore the related problem and the ensuing policy implication for the manager of community centers in order to promote community development. This research thus selects 102 community centers in the city of Taichung as the object of study and conducts questionnaires to collect data regarding the historical background of community centers, basic information, the organizational dimension, the financial dimension, and the operational dimension. Moreover, some interviews with managers of community centers and related government officials have also been conducted to understand the problem in the management and operation of community centers.
Findings of this research indicate that the management of community centers faces the problems including organizational position, property rights (especially the use of private property as community centers), satisfaction and efficiency, and financial management. By means of questionnaire and interview survey, this research suggests the way to improve the management of community centers and to vitalize the community : more flexible open hours, volunteer recruiting, many-sided fund raising, activity enhancement, advanced managerial manpower training, organization unity, bottom-up planning processes, and well-planned welfare policies.
