Description
Summary:碩士 === 遠東科技大學 === 機械研究所 === 96 === The A356 (Al-7Si-0.35Mg) is second eutectic Al-Si-Mg-based alloy which is classified heat treatment aluminum alloys. This thesis was investigation of microstructure and mechanical properties of A356 alloy in the presence of rare-earth element (La, Ce) with various amounts of addition in the casting process and to compare with commercial aluminum-based alloys with Sr contain. The optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and hardness test and tensile test were used to analysis relatively material properties. The results show that the products with La or Ce contain has good time-keeps effect more then commercial aluminum-based alloys with Sr contain. The analysis of microstructures shows that the morphology and size of crystals grain was changed from sharp and acicular grain into smaller circle grain. In the mechanical properties, the results show that the alloys in the presence of 0.86 wt% rare-earth element has highest hardness and elongation ratio compare with addition free. The elongation ratio can be increased from 2.7 % to 6.5 %.
