Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 教育領導與發展研究所 === 95 === A STUDY OF THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE SERVANT-LEADERSHIP BEHAVIORS BY PRINCIPALS AND ALTRUSTIC BEHAVIORS BY TEACHERS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN TAIPEI COUNTY LIU, DAW-DER ABSTRACT The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationships between the servant-leadership behaviors by principals and the altruistic behaviors by teachers in elementary schools in Taipei County. First, the current performances and differences of the servant-leadership behaviors by principals and the altruistic behaviors by teachers under variety controlled conditions were proposed. Secondly, the relationships between them were analyzed. Finally, the study examined the predictive power of the servant-leadership behaviors by principles on the altruistic behaviors by teachers. The questionnaire survey method was adopted by the study which used the instrument named “The Questionnaire of the Relationship between the Servant-Leadership Behaviors by Principles and the Altruistic Behaviors by Teachers in Elementary Schools.” 1045 elementary school teachers in Taipei County were tested. The amount of valid samples was 843(80.7%). The data were analyzed by statistics in frequency, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation and multiple stepwise regression analysis. The findings were as below: 1. The servant-leadership behaviors by principals in elementary schools in Taipei County have shown great performance on the questionnaire. The score of “self-awareness” was the highest and “Healing” was the lowest. The altruistic behaviors by teachers have also shown great performance of which “helping others actively” was the highest and “willing to serve” was the lowest. 2. The backgrounds of teachers, schools and principals had significant influences on the teachers’ awareness of the servant-leadership behaviors by principals. As the teachers had more ages, years in service or been as administrators, they would get the higher awareness of the servant-leadership behaviors by principals. As the size of the school was smaller or the principal had received higher education, the teachers would have higher awareness of servant-leadership behaviors by principals. 3. The gender, age, years in service, education or assignment of the teacher had shown no significant influence on his altruistic behaviors. However, the size of the school had a significant influence on the altruistic behaviors by teachers. As the school had the smaller size, the teachers would have more altruistic behaviors. In addition, the education of the principal had a significant influence on the altruistic behaviors by teachers. As the principal had received the higher education, the teacher would have more altruistic behaviors. 4. There was high-positive correlation between the servant-leadership behaviors by principals and the altruistic behaviors by teachers in elementary schools in Taipei County. 5. The three frames, “persuasion”, “stewardship” and “developing-vision and proactive behavior” of the servant-leadership behaviors by principals, had exactly predicted the altruistic behaviors by teachers. Finally, the study had proposed some suggestions for educational administration, the principals of the elementary schools and the future study.
