Description
Summary:碩士 === 玄奘大學 === 宗教學系碩士在職專班 === 95 === The rise of the religion I-Kuan-Tao (the Tao that unifies all with the one) in Taiwan has gained academic interest. Its popularity in Taiwan religious scene testifies to the success of its doctrinal, ritual and organizational tactics in missionary works. However, most studies in I-Kuan-Tao up-to-date focus mainly on “rationality” of religious experience. This research will attempt to explore the ‘non-religious’ and ‘Holy’ dimensions in the religious experience of “I-Kuan-Tao” rituals. The ultimate goal of “I-Kuan-Tao” is to return to the Wu-Ji-Li-Tian (the Infinite Heaven), which is said to be the source of spirituality and the holy grace given by Wu-Sheng-Lao-Mu (the Unborn Venerable Mother), such shows the longing for a homeland in I-Kuan-Tao. The inition ritual in I-Kuan-Tao symbolizes the search for the Tao and its religious practices aim to find the key -Triple Gems of Self- that will lead one to return to Heaven. The Triple Gems is regarded as the holiest grace given to I-Kuan-Tao adherents, said to contain the unlimited power for transformation. The emphasis in ethics combining with Buddhist precepts is the core of I-Kuan-Tao practices. This indicates that spirituality in I-Kuan-Tao is this-worldly oriented. Adherents are also asked to reflect on Yuan-Chan-Wun (the Words of Confession). All of these are discoursed within the doctrinal framework of Tian-Ming (Heavenly Providence). Therefore, we might conclude that the spirituality that I-Kuan-Tao discourses is unique.
