This thesis discusses the function and operation of village patrol squad in the case of Songshan district, Taipei City. From the beginning, central government encourage all local governments to carry out the policy of community & village patrol squad in a common sense, that police manpower is limited, but the power from civilian society is unlimited. This study includes chapters of research background, research motivation, research destination, survey planning, and data analysis to explain the effects of community & village patrol squads in the Songshan district.
In conclusion, the execution of community patrol squad in the Songshan district has positive impact helping to decrease criminal happing rate. However, there are still some problems to overcome.
In order to improve community patrol squad’s organization legitimacy, the community & village patrol squad system might consider various ways to enlarge manpower resources. On the other hand, it is necessary for the local police station to cooperate with village patrol squads, especially in high crime rate regions.
