In order to understand the effects of outside northeast area, space and historical characteristics in Dalian architecture, we focus on the differences and characteristics of spatial planning, industrial policies to regional development through the political description, statistics and interviews.The research is mainly on (1) The effect of political and colonial policies on Dalian spatial development. (2) The functional transformation of industrial policies: the role Dalian performed on regional industrial structure from the past development of northeast industries to nowadays. (3) The historical track from the colonial period till now, even the 11th Five-Year Plan, based on spatial-planning among the northeastern city development, case studies and comparison of past and nowadays maps.In conclusion, the Spatial-mechanism is based on colonial policies, economic tactics in nations, and regional division adjustment, which contributed the energy of Dalian’s spatial structure. Moreover, the china’s open-door policy and the outside capitals from Japan, Korean, and Hong-Kong, which benefit regional industries, raise the economics. The research contribution is on the analysis of Dalian development described above.
