With the advance of network and device technologies, people can now communicate with each other through various communication vehicles. However with so many different communication systems in use, a person may need to maintain many different communication identities, such as PSTN or PLMN numbers, and MSN or Sktpe IDs, of his contacts on various communication systems. Furthermore, the person needs to equip his device with appropriate software or hardware so that he can use an appropriate communication vehicle to communicate with a corresponding person. Therefore, we design and implemented an integrated communication system that can help a user to organize the identities of his contacts, and provide a one-click communication interface for the user to communicate with a contact through the most appropriate communication vehicle. In this thesis, we further extend the integrated communication system to support group-casting. With the extension, a user can set up his own communication groups and send group-casting messages to a designated group of contacts by using the most appropriate communication vehicle for each contact. As a consequence, our system can send messages to a group of members who belong to different IMSs. Furthermore, our system can provide mechanism for a user to set up the preference of the user or a group. Besides, it also provides interfaces for other applications to send group messages effectively. The experimental results show that the groupcasting mechanism can indeed deliver messages to a group of users on different IMSs Chien-Chao Tseng 曾建超 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 48 zh-TW
