Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 管理學院碩士在職專班管理科學組 === 95 === In this thesis, the efficiency and the productivity of global and Taiwan Integrated Circuit (IC) industry are investigated based on methods of data envelopment analysis (DEA) and Malmquist Productivity Index. There are a total of 114 samples in this thesis ranging from year 2001 to year 2004. This study employs 2 exogenously factors and 3 internal factors as inputs and 2 factors as outputs. The empirical evidence is as follows: 1. Efficiency of worldwide IC design firms is greater then efficiency of Taiwan-based IC design firms. The difference of efficiency is being reduced by improvement of technical efficiency of Taiwan. 2. The productivities of global and Taiwan IC design industries continue to grow. At the same time, some firms of Taiwan IC design industry are outstanding and some are declining. 3. Regarding the productivity of IC industry in Taiwan, the IC manufacturing industry is stronger than the design house. The IC design house is stronger than IC assembly and test firms. In terms of technical efficiency, the IC assembly and test industry tends to out-perform the other sections in IC industry. 4. The IC design house, IC manufacturing industry and IC assembly and testing industry are all continue growing. Among them, IC design performs the best.
