Summary:碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 輔導與諮商學系所 === 95 === The Meaning of Peer Sexual Harassment among High School Students by Ling-Chi, Yang Abstract The purpose of this study is to discover the meaning of peer sexual harassment among high school students, including the definitions, the attributions, personal experiences, the influences resulted from peer sexual harassment, and how adolescents deal with peer sexual harassment. Besides, the study also attempts to understand how the peer relationship and sexual-subculture affect the experiences and attitudes of high school students. There are 33 male and female high school students who attend the in-depth group or individual interviews. The data of the interviews are analysed by grounded theory approach. The major findings are summarized as follows: 1.The definitions of peer sexual harassment to high school students are based on the factors which involve the meaning of sex, amd abridging one’s decision-making power. But the definitions will vary with these factors like sex, peer-relationship, degree of severity and personal explanatory comments. The two types of peer sexual harassment are happened between the opposite sex and the same sex; including physical and speech behaviors, control on relationships and emotions. The attributions of peer sexual harassment derive from the causes of actors, victims, environments and cultures. 2.The events of peer sexual harassment will result in victims’ negative feelings, also cause damage to the interpersonal relationship and work efficiency. There are two kind of strategies in coping with anti-harassment:the direct strategy and the indirect strategy. Students have to consider the problems such as: how to keep friendly relationship and avoid conflict; other people’s unconcern or injury; and interpersonal models they have. On the contrary, the positive resources include peer’s support, school and family educations; personal experiences and mental maturity. 3.The events of peer sexual harassment in high school are mainly influenced by the peer relationship and sexual-subculture. Because of peer relationship, high school students usually regard the behaviors with sexual meanings as normal, not sexual; it will also affect the interpesonal boundary and the strategies in coping with anti-harassment. There are different sexual-subculture and peer interactions between male and female students. And the differences will affect the phenomenons of peer sexual harassment. The results of this study are discussed. Moreover, the suggestions to future reserches and sexual equality education are brought up.
