Since the controlled diverter system is a non-linear system and time varying system, using PID control requires more efforts than the fuzzy control. The estimated transfer function of boiler system carries the time delay characteristic associated with steam flow rate. In order to compare the control effort of the above problems, traditional PID controller and fuzzy controller are implemented with different steam flow time. Simulation results show that the fuzzy controller can cope with the variation of steam flow value problem. Besides, employing fuzzy control theory for the design of the diverter system with different steam flow time-delay illustrates good control result. In summary, applying fuzzy control in the boiler system, joining expert's knowledge and adopting operator's experience, reorganizing the fuzzy control rule, make the fuzzy decision-making to form a good control system. Therefore a boiler system with non-linear and time-delay diverter in the cogeneration plant is stabilized and run smoothly via the fuzzy control.
