| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 史地學系研究所 === 95 === The research discussed life adjustment and social network establishment of foreign spouses in Tianwei Township. In personal aspect, they learn Chinese and Taiwanese through talking with family and watching TV. As time goes by, including its difficulty to buy food of South East Asia, so they are used to the food in Taiwan. Even some of the foreign spouses are disappointed in husbands’ economics, but they can accept the truth gradually, and then work hard to make their lives better. In family aspect, they can get trust from their family by doing housework and farming. By doing so , they can be responsible for their family and make the countryside more powerful. Kids are the most important key in foreign spouses’ life adjustment, because they can console Mother’s hearts and be lubricants between Mother and their Chinese family and be also a huge power.
In social network, foreign spouses relate to their husband, friends who come from the same country or different ones, and relatives of her native family. Because of being limited by their family, low moving abilities, space distance, being very busy every day and their family hating them to go out, foreign spouses don’t often keep in touch with their friends. The big scale of social network makes foreign spouses get more support in life, but makes them get less identity from family. The small scale of social network is contrary.
Family space, learning space and activity space are the main parts which foreign spouses construct their social network. Family space is the first level, learning space and activity space are the second level to construct social network. There are three factors to enlarge activity space. The first one is having good moving ability, the second one is taking language learning courses, and the third one is being living in Taiwan for a long time.
In the process of life adjustment and social network reconstruction, foreign spouses not only enlarge their activity space, but also reduce the differences by different cultural background.
