Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 資訊工程學系研究所 === 95 === Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) exploits multi-hop wireless communication between Access Points to replace wired infrastructure. In this paper, we propose a dynamic load-aware MAC protocol for WMNs, called Multi-channel Multi-interface MAC Protocol (MMMAC), which extend a previous Multi-channel MAC protocol (MMAC) [13] from single interface to multiple interfaces. MMAC requires only one interface per host and improves the network throughput by switching channel dynamically. The thesis indicates two problems in MMAC: (1) Unable concurrent transmission and (2) Load unbalance. This thesis proposes two solutions for the problems mentioned above. First, MMMAC improves the aggregate throughput by equipping with multiple interfaces to enable concurrent transmission. Secondly, MMMAC modifies the rules for channel selection in order to balancing the load on each channel. Simulations show that our proposed scheme substantially increases the aggregate throughput. The throughput improvement of MMMAC is quadruple to MMAC by equipping with two interfaces.
