A two-phase agent-mediated service discovery and selection method is proposed in this study. A Contract Net Protocol (CNP) is used in the first phase to discover the service in MANET. In the second phase, the Contract Net Protocol is further extended in assessing the trust value and selecting the best service, by utilizing Fuzzy Cognitive Map (FCM), and dynamically signing the contract. By combining the FCM in the second phase, not only the proposed Service Discovery mechanism can be protected from abnormal nodes with malicious actions, but the efficiency of Service Discovery can also be enhanced. Experimental results demonstrate that, by combining extended CNP and FCM, the proposed method can obtain better performance for Service Discovery and Selection for MANET.
