Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 農學研究所 === 95 === This research uses 8 different turfgrass seeds, such as Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers.), Carpetgrass (Axonopus affinis Chase), Centipedegrass (Eremochloa ophiuroides (Munro) Hack.), Japanese lawn grass (Zoysia japonica Steud), Weeping love Grass (Eragrostis curvla (Schrad.) Nees), Rhodesgrass (Chloris gayana Kunth), Tall fescue (Festura arundinacea Schreb) and Bahiagrass (Paspalum notatum Flugge). These are easy grown in parks or on slopes in Taiwan. Therefore, the objective of this study is to explore the impact germination and emergence of seed by constant temperature, alternate temperature, water potential, concentrations of NaCl, different light quality, oxygen, pH value and buried depth. The results showed those of the germination percentage is the best by constant temperature for Tall fescue and Rhodesgrass, from 10 ℃to 35 ℃. These have a germination percentage 50% above other turfgrasses. It was demonstrated these turfgrass adapted to the nature of day and night environment temperature differences. Germination percentages are higher than, but at 40/35℃ germination percentage declines. Bermudagrass, Carpetgrass, Centipedegrass, the Japanese lawngrass and Bahiagrass did not germinate below at 15/10 ℃ . As for the water potential, -0.4MPa is the most favorable conditions and the germination rate of the eight turfgrasses are all higher than 60%; particularly, Centipedegrass has the highest germination arte 85%. However, these turf seeds stop germinate above -1.2MPa. At -1.0MPa, the broad-leaf Japanese lawn grass and Weeping love grass still have 30% germination. For salinity, seeds of each of turfgrasses are tested in 0-0.6% salinity solution. At 0.4% salinity density, the germination rate of Carpetgrass is decresed to 30%. The germination rates of the others are above 60%. When 2.0% salinity solution is used, the germination stops. However, using the 1.0% salinity solution the germination rates of Bermudagrass, Centipedegrass, Weeping love Grass, Rhodesgrass and Tall fescue still reach 20%. Light can promote germination of turf seeds. On darkness on the germination rates of Bermudagrass, Carpetgrass, Centipedegrass and Japanese lawn grass are below 40%. If it is not dark, Tall fescue and Bahiagrass germination rates are not strongly decreased. For Rhodesgrass darkness does not reduce the seed-germination rate. For pH density, pH5 to pH8 is a suitable environment for turf seed germination. At pH2 valve Carpetgrass still has 30% germination rate. Below pH3 and above pH9 valves the germination rate of Bahiagrass is not good. For oxygen, given light and oxygen the germination rate is the highest, but under the darkness the germination rate significantly decreased. The effect of depth of planting is correlated with the seed size. The germination rate of all kind of turfgrass is higher than 60% if the planting depth is less than 0.5cm. The germination rates of Tall fescue and Centipedegrass are 60% and 50%, respectively while the seeds are planting at 3cm deep. The germination rate is zero if the seeds are planted deeper than 5cm.
