Due to its cost and revenue are higher compared with other modes of container transport, therefore all shipping lines each have their own special management procedure with regard to the revenue and risk managements of their reefer transport. This study utilized case-study method to investigate the risk management of reefer container operation with emphasis on risk process behavior, and the relationship between the cost of risk process and its outcome. The study concluded that the claim payment for risk process outcome is closely related to the degree of importance of its business operation. This study found that good container management has preventive function for the risk management of reefer container transport. Therefore, making sound contract management will have valuable contributions for loss control and risk management, and result in reducing the loss to the minimum. In addition, if contract management can be used as a key index for risk management, then it will be beneficial to the risk management of the reefer container operation.
