Through reviewing the historical document, we can find the developing progress of aerophotos and see the differences between aerophotos and aerial photographs. The study also discusses the advantages and limits of aerophotos, and tries to use GIS software ArcGIS 9 to search specific space position of Hualien Aerophotos. It helps to prove the idea of this study that Aerophotos have strong visual effect which can correspond to Kevin Lynch’s concept of“ image”. And aerophotos can supply reader strong visual beauty characteristic and self-experienced feeling to know the special quality of Huaien geographical environment.
