Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 華語文教學研究所 === 95 === The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the judgement on perceived graphemic similarity of Chinese characters on the European and American foreign students of Chinese. The technique of this study used the cognitive psychology experiment of the judgement on perceived graphemic similarity of Chinese characters. 12 Taiwanese undergraduates and 23 European and American foreign students participated in this study. In addition, a word recognition test composed by the investigator was given to the European and American foreign students. The data-processing procedures in this study adopted multidimensional scaling and cluster analysis. The results are summarized as follows: 1. The Taiwanese undergraduates relied on the configuration structures while judging the perceived graphemic similarity of Chinese characters. That is they used the horizontal/vertical and open/surrounding configuration structures as the two main criteria. And the two criteria has no priority. 2. As the literate quantity of Chinese character increased, the judgement on perceived graphemic similarity of Chinese characters by the European and American foreign students was different. It gradually decreased by the graphs and strokes and increased by the components and configuration structures.
