In a sensor network, the power of each sensor is limited and can not be recharge. Therefore, many reseaches in Wireless Sensor Network emphasize on how to improve the utility of energy, extend the life time of the sensor network, and increase the packet delivery rate. In the general routing mechanism, a single routing path is used. As a result, the energy of the sensors on the routing paths will be depleted quickly, and cause the routing path broken. When a routing path is broken, a routing discovery algorithm must be used to make the routing path connected. This will waste energy, decrease the packet delivery rate, and decrease the life time of the sensor network. In order to solve the above problems, we propose a mechanism callen Energy-Aware Multi-Disjoint Paths Routing algorithm. The algorithm uses multi-disjoint paths to improve the routing path’s robustness, packet delivery rate, and load balance. Before a routing path is selected, the algorithm checks every sensor node’s residual energy to make sure all the sensors in the routing path have enough energy. Therefore, the path reliability is increased and the error rate in data transmission is decreased. From our simulation, Energy-Aware Multi-Disjoint Paths Routing algorithm outperforms previous published algorithms.
