The purpose was to explore the motivation and the anxiety of learning science for elementary school students.“ Motivation of Learning Science Inventory” and“ Anxiety of Learning Science Inventory” were used as the survey tools. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive statistics, and the semi-structured interview. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. There was a significantly negative correlation between the motivation of learning science and anxiety of learning science(P < .001). 2. The differences of grades, genders, and participation of parents for elementary school students were significant difference in the motivation of learning science(P< .05). 3. The differences among teachers’ gender were significant difference in the motivation of learning science(P< .001)and in the anxiety of learning science (P< .001). 4. The differences of grades, genders, and participation of parents for elementary school students were not significant difference in the anxiety of learning science. 5. From the semi-structured interviews, the research finds that the differences among grades may be related to students’ learning contents, teachers’ teaching skills and attitudes affect students’ learning, the pressure of elementary school students who learn science mostly comes from the exams, and students expect parental participation in learning science.
