Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 教育科技研究所 === 95 === Abstract The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of creative writing instruction on fifth graders’ writing motivation and writing performance. Using a quasi-experimental design, two fifth-grade classes of some primary school in Kaohsiung County were randomly assigned to the experimental group and control group. Creative writing was implemented in the experimental group, while the control group was taught in the traditional way. The whole experiment lasted 10 weeks, 800 minutes. Before, immediate after, and one-month after the experiment, the two groups filled out a scale of motivation for writing , wrote two stories, and filled out a course feedback questionnaire. The major findings of the study were as following: 1. No difference between the two groups in their writing motivation. 2. The results showed that experimental group was significantly better than the control group in the quality of their writing, including contents, organization, and rules. 3. Over eighty percent of the students in the experimental group interested in the creative writing course, believed that creative writing promoted their writing ability, and they wished to have the same writing course hereafter. Based on the findings of this study, the implications and suggestions for teachers and future research were discussed.
