A purposive sampling method was used, and a survey was conducted for students in junior level who are currently enrolled in a university that offered both Computer Engineering and MIS programs. Variables examined including students’ background information, prior computing experience, academic achievement in high school and academic performance at university level. It is found that academic performance predictors for students in Computer Engineering and MIS programs were not the same. For students in Computer Engineering program, performance in college introductory computer courses and high school math were found to be effective predictors for academic achievement at university level. For students in MIS program, performance in high school math and high school English courses, as well as performance in college introductory computer courses were the most influencing factors to predict students’ academic achievement at university level. However, prior experience of computer games was found to influence students’ academic achievement at university level negatively.
