The deficits of these mechanisms may be contributed to the inefficiency of the auditory-language processing. Revised Token Test (RTT) is one of the favorite assessment tools in the clinic at foreign; because high sensitivity and validity, it could be used on the subjects such as, normal people, brain injury patients, aphasia patients, and even specified-language-impairment children. At Taiwan, we do need such assessment tool as RTT to improve the clinical assessment. The goals of this study were to exam the adequate of the Chinese command of the Revised Token Test, and tried to find out whether the commands could differentiate the aphasia patients from the normal or not. There were 30 normal adults and 4 aphasia patients who joined the study. We used the RTT - Chinese Version as the study tool, and observed the subjects’ response. The commands of the RTT - Chinese Version could satisfied the requests, (1) the words used in the test could cause the right responses and match the acquirement of the scoring system, (2) avoiding the unusual words or syntax, (3) the length of the commands could be easily memorized by normal people, and (4) reducing the effects of the educational or age factor。The subtest I and II could be easily passed by the normal adults, and caused less inter-personal variation. From the subtest III to VIII, it would be more difficult with the increasing length or the language units of the commands, and caused more inter-personal variation. The subtest IX and IX could be easily passed by the normal adults, but caused more inter-personal variation. By using the Principal Component Analysis, we could extract one factor from the subtest Ⅵ, Ⅶ, and Ⅷ. After analyzing the commands, we named the factor as “the ability of auditory comprehension involved with spatial operations.” By analyzing the various linguistic elements between the RTT - Chinese Version with Principal Component Analysis, we could extract 2 factors that they could efficiently reflect the abilities of auditory comprehension of “direct descriptive sentences” and “awareness of semantic changes.” Compared with 30 normal adults, 4 aphasia patients’ performances on either the average scores of the subtests, or the number of the pass commands during the RTT - Chinese Version were worse than normal adults’. The consequences will be helpful for us to differentiate the aphasia with auditory-comprehension difficulties from normal adults initially.
