| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 語文教育學系碩士班 === 95 === The purpose of this study is to analyze The Red Shoes and other correlation books. For this purpose, text analysis is adopted as the method of this research. By analyzing the text discourse, the expressions of different editions in The Red Shoes are described; also, these expression are compared with modern-novel The Devil Wears Prada. Meanwhile, the meanings of the expressions of these two books in today’s education are suggested.
The findings of this study is as followings:
First, red shoes in this story stand for vanity and evil. Karen feels that she’s beautiful by the red shoes. This story shows Karen how to build correct consciousness and go through a series of amendments. She needs to control her appetence and regulates herself to the codes of the society. In the end of the story, Karen’s soul flew on the sunbeams to Heaven and no one was there who asked after the Red Shoes.
The second conclusion by analyzing The Red Shoes and The Devil Wears Prada is that the two heroines brunt of social argument are change their thinking. The authors use different way to display the same thing including vanity, self-fulfillment and the meaning of gender consciousness. As deconstruct “red shoes story”, no matter Red Shoes or The Devil Wears Prada, the meaning of these books are the same. They told us vanity is bad and through the two heroines chase after their dreams to find their ways.
The third conclusion is that the meanings of this research in education are to reflect the correct conceptions in this world, help people to sure their value even create a new one.
Finally, this study is analyzing The Red Shoes and other correlation books. According to the female consciousness and the excessive male depreciation revealed through the texts, the research carries out the introspection discussion and hopes to provide a thinking space of different view for researchers on their works.
