From 2004, Common Wealth Education Foundation began to impel the hopeful reading in one hundred elementary schools of remote areas, and hoping to solve their learning backwardness of the students in remote regions by improving the reading abilities of children in these schools. This research targets at the elementary school teachers involved in "Hopeful Reading Project" and surveyed their views and opinions after participating two years on this project. In addition, it also examines the teachers'' participation in the broad range of activities included in the project. The research can be regarded as the reference resources to the implementation of future "Hopeful Reading Project" and other related promotional activities for reading going forward. To achieve the above objective, this research referenced previous studies and theories related to the subject as the fundamentals analytical structure and developed a survey form ("Survey for Elementary School Teachers Participating in Hopeful Reading Project") to seek feedbacks from elementary school teachers in Kaohsiung County and Tainan County who participated in "Hopeful Reading Project." Based on the surveys, the key conclusions are as followed: 1. The teachers tended to approve highly of the overall activities of the "Hopeful Reading Project." 2. The teachers tended to be highly accommodative to the activities of "Hopeful Reading Project." 3. The degree of participation of the teachers is ranked "above average" 4. As regards to the teachers'' background, differences in gender, age, tenor, and degree of education do cause differences in degree of participation. However, differences in title and which grades they teach do not. 5. The teachers'' motives and their actual degree of participation are highly correlative. Based on the above findings, this research offers the following suggestions: 1.The suggestions for Common Wealth Education Foundation : a. Encourage social volunteers to zealously impel students'' reading on campus. b. Enhance the cooperation of the allied elementary school teachers. 2. The suggestions to the organizations and educational agencies that are willing to promote reading: a. Reinforce the integration of resources. b. Offering resources will substitute for evaluation system to lead the execution of plans. c. Encourage parents to join the reading activities. Miao-Hsiang Hsiao 蕭妙香 學位論文 ; thesis 113 zh-TW
