The reuse of historical building becomes a climate of extension of historical building’s life and business continuity. The main purpose of this thesis is treating of the percipience of historical building reuse by tourists. In order to understand that how to combine the values of rest, tourism, education and economy, then makes historical building become a portion of human lives, the Cing Dynasty Dagao British Consulate is selected as an example. In addition, the experiences of people are joined. There are two main issues: 1.Research the percipience of present state for reuse of Cing Dynasty Dagao British Consulate by tourists. 2.Understand the selections of actions from tourists in Cing Dynasty Dagao British Consulate area. The measure of research is based on surveys along with interviews from government and operator which are assistants. Data is analyzed via independent sample T test, One-Way ANOVA, PEARSON CORRELATION ANALYSIS and related statistic methods. Accordingly, the relationships between percipience of historical building and percipience of present state from various background tourists are comprehended. The result of this research presents that government, operator and people identify with the present state for Cing Dynasty Dagao British Consulate generally due to the huge increase of tourists and great benefit earned. However, this identification does not come from the cultural background of Cing Dynasty Dagao British Consulate, the characteristics of architecture and activities of art entirely. In addition, the percipience of present state of tourists for Cing Dynasty Dagao British Consulate will effect the real actions of themselves. Historical building reuse is getting popular recently. Besides, the cases of reuse are increasingly. This study may be able to offer a different thought to the public that in order to activate, maintain and protect historical buildings people should have much more deep thought while facing another case of reuse.
