To find out the differences in recreational sport participation and constraint factors for medical professionals in Tainan with different demographics, we conducted a questionnaire survey. “Questionnaire of Recreational Sport Participation and Constraint Factors for Medical Professionals in Tainan” was therefore designed and distributed to medical professionals working in hospitals in Tainan area. Out of 800 questionnaires, 601 questionnaires were returned. 584 questionnaires were valid, and thus yielded an effective return rate of 73%. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, explore factor analysis, T-test, One-way ANOVA and Scheffe-test. The results have four indications: (1) Medical professionals have a relatively low level of participation in recreational sports. Most of the time they engage in activities free of charge such as ‘walking’ in company with friends. (2) In terms of demographic variables such as gender, age, education, job position, family life cycle and income, medical professionals differ significantly regarding their participation in recreational sports. (3) The leading constraint factor for medical professionals’ participation in recreational sports is the facilities in the opportunity constraint dimension, which include the quality, service and location. (4) In terms of demographic variables such as gender, age, education, job position, family life cycle and income, medical professionals differ significantly regarding the constraints on their recreational sport participation.
