碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 視覺藝術研究所 === 95 === The value of life has been the issue that human beings keep seeking. I present my sensation about the different stages of my life through art creation to pursue the completeness and reality of life. To express the abstract topic, I intergrate my explanation of life by researching biology, psychology, art history and some other literatures. I choose ”Circle” to be the elemental image of life deduction in my art creation and I try to show the visible appearance of life via it. In the Introduction, I explain the motive and purpose of my creation, the process and the methods of my reserch. There are four chapters in this thesis: Chapter I is mainly to search the value of life and develop the concept of my creation based on the theories including science, psychology and sociology. In Chapter II, I explore the archtype of life by analyzing the totem of life sensation in both oriental and western culture and induce the most proper image of expressing life is “Circle”. For Chapter III, it’s to probe into the creation motive and the relationship of life in some artists’ works that use circle as the main concept and image. In chapter IV, it is to show my sensation of my personal life experience by analyzing my ideas and my art forms which are divided into 3 series: “Eddy Series”—emphasize the status of ongoing life.” Protista Series”—express myself sensation of life mainly with the life of unicellular cell. ”Symbiosis Series”—shows the relationship between human beings and I in my installation works. In my creations of painting and installation in the period of 2004-2006, I try to eliminate the excitement feelings of colorful luxury and use black and white as the main colors besides the original colors of ready-made adopted in my works of installation. It is to present my sensation and touching about life essence. Conclusion finally proposes a general comments about my personal aspect and comprehension of life issue and to confirm the meaning and the future direction of my creation.
