Furthermore, the researcher compared the correlation between the demographic background of kindergarten and preschool teachers and the parent education competencies. The "Kindergarten and Preschool Teachers’ Parent Education Competencies Questionnaire" was used and the participants were sampled by stratified random sampling method. There were 305 kindergarten and preschool teachers in Taipei city and Taipei county participated in the study. Frequency statistics, t-test, Pearson correlation, and one way ANOVA were used to analyze data. Results of the study were as following: 1. In the importance of parent education competencies for kindergarten and preschool teachers, the most agreeable was ‘communication and interaction’, the second was ‘providing information’ and the third was ‘relationship between parents and teachers’. 2. In the practice of parent education competencies for kindergarten and preschool teachers, the highest frequency was ‘communication and interaction’, the second was ‘providing information’ and the third was ‘relationship of parents and teacher’. 3. The degree of need for parent education competencies for kindergarten and preschool teachers was between ‘need’ and ‘very need’. 4. The correlations showed that the importance of parent education for kindergarten and preschool teachers significantly related to the practices of parent education for kindergarten and preschool teachers. It meant that the more important of parent education competencies kindergarten and preschool teachers thought, the more possible they applied parent education in school. 5. Based on the demographic background of kindergarten and preschool teachers, except the districts of working, there was significant difference between different city or county of working, public or private kindergarten and preschool, the degree of education, age, and the years of career on kindergarten and preschool teachers’ parent education competencies. Finally, based on the findings above, suggestions were made for kindergarten and preschool teachers, educational agencies. Issues for further study were also discussed.
