Now it is the time for their children to attend the elementary schools. Much attention is paid to related problems generated from the increasing of students with foreign mothers. According to the latest statistics, 8 babies in 100 are born by foreign mothers (not including 4-5 Mainland mothers). Therefore, this study intends to understand the relation between the family characteristics and academic adaptation. Thus formulation about how to improve services for foreign mothers' lives and their children's education can be properly provided. The data of this study is based on "The Survey on the Learning and Living Tendency of Elementary School Students with Foreign Mothers" by the Department of Statistics, Ministry of Education. To analyze the data, the method of factor analysis is adapted first to extract two factors, named as academic achievement and life adaptation, of academic adaptation. Then, the two factors of academic adaptation are analyzed to discover the differences under different individual characters of student, background of student' mother, and life accommodation. Finally, the major learning problems caused by foreign mother will be pointed out according to the results of this study. Suggestions will also be offered as a reference for the person related to the area of education.
