Fandom behaviors have positive meanings toward the mentality growth for the youth. The purpose of the study is to discuss the condition of the fandom among students in Pingtung County and the motives of fandom. Besides, understanding the diversity of the motives, preference, and degrees towards fandom among students from different backgrounds as well as the parental attitude toward children’s discipline and the related conditions about the motives, preference, and degrees towards fandom are also concerned. The research obtains the original data by documentation and combining with surveys in order to understand the fandom behaviors of students, as well by using statistics of average and percentage, mean, and Pearson difference correlation to analyze. The following conclusions are obtained: - It’s most obvious that the favorite fandom among senior students in Pingtung County is using Internet. The degree of fandom is not high in common; however, 8% of those students are highly fastened on it. The main reason for the fandom is “pleasure”. - The senior students in country areas have higher interests in Iinternet and TV than senior students in urban areas. Besides, single-parent students with father have higher interests in Iinternet than single-parent students with mother and students living with parents. Students coming from lower social and economical status like to adore idols more compared to students coming from higher social and economical status. Sixth grade students have higher degree in fandom than fifth grade students. Urban area students have higher pleasure motives than mountainous region students. Male students have obviously higher motives in belongingness and achievement than female students. Sixth grade students have obviously higher motives in belongingness, pleasure, and autonomy than fifth grade students. Single-parent students with father have higher pleasure motives than single-parent students with mother apparently. - For primary school senior students in Pingtung County, the more authoritativeness of parental attitude toward children’s discipline, the stronger degree in fandom behaviors they have. The fandom motives proposed in the research are conformed to fandom favorite. Primary school senior students in Pingtung County show the high fandom phenomenon only in internet usage. Autonomy is the main motive of fandom among students with high fandom. Keyword: Fandom, Parental attitude of discipline, Fandom behaviors
