Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 兒童文學研究所 === 96 === Exploring the New Escaping Way from the Silhouette of Jewish Girls abstract The twentieth century has been recognized as an era full of many rapid changes. There were many scars established by the conflicts between interiors and superiors. Surveying these scars is an affirmative way to heal these scars. The Jewish people were confronted to the havoc of Holocaust. Struggling to survive and escaping from the haze of the Nazi and the war was their priority. The spacial mobility and the obscure shelters were the old escaping courses and ways. However, after the reflection on the Holocaust, people have a new view about the races, the sexes, and the ideology that pervaded in the Nazi period. Most history records are based on what the male thought of or concluded by the male, and the presentation and the voice of the female characters are frequently ignored. Therefore, this thesis attempts to study how women – especially the ones suffering both racist and sexist discrimination – never gives up to explore and develop their lives and personality, while struggling to survive in an era full of cultural ideologies and dynamic historical changes. Through examining the young adult novels with Holocaust as the setting, based on the descriptions on the Jewish female characters, the researcher probes into the surviving ways of the marginal ones, the growth and identification of the life, the efforts to eliminate ideology, and the possibility of counteraction from writing, trying to construct a different escaping way instead of a traditional spacial escaping one. Hopefully, this new eacaping way from the counteraction of the writing can inspire people to face their lives with more courage and broader views while facing threats or challenges as devastating as what the characteres in these works have been through.
