碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 兒童文學研究所 === 96 === Abstract “Taichung County Children’s Literature Creation Series”, also named “Little Banyan”. It was published by Taichung County Government. There have been twenty series since it was started in March of 1987. It offers opportunities for teachers and students in primary and secondary schools to present their literary works, moreover it makes a significant record of the development of children’s literature in Taichung County. The thesis is a research based on the teachers’ works in the series. The author classifies them into four categories--- children’s chants, fairy tales, short essays, and teenage novels, and studies the characteristics of the teachers’ works. The Findings of the Research： 1. The characteristics of the themes of the teachers’ chants for children: A. meeting children’s interests B. stressing the importance of love C. understanding children D. describing the beauty of Nature 2. The characteristics of the themes of teachers’ fairy tales are: A. emphasizing fun and interest B. having too many adventurous stories C. the writer directly disclosing the theme of the story 3.
