In Taiwan, it is particularly worthy of noting that more and more cases of the so-called “mid-story isolation”, which is different from the traditional “base isolation” and is used commonly in Japan, can be anticipated due to the high popularity and limited land. However, there are very few studies regarding the “mid-story isolation” structures currently. The purpose of this research is to derive 3 degree-of-freedom simplified model (superstructure, isolated layer, and substructure), estimate the effect of the parameters of interest on the seismic responses, and finally address the recommendations and special concerns for the practical engineering applications of the “mid-story isolation”. To avoid the effect of diverse ground motions in this study, 7 sets of earthquake histories recorded at TCU059, TCU061, TCU072, TCU074, TCU078, TCU079, and TCU109 in the 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake are used to be compatible with the domestic seismic design spectrum. Both the response spectrum and response history analyses are performed not only to study the effect of the parameters but also to validate the feasibility of the application of the “mid-story isolation” to increasing the floor space of the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE). In addition to the effect of the parameters, the “modal coupling effect” is also remarkable and should be paid more attention. The test study based on the proposed analytical results will be conducted in the near future. After the validation of the experiment, it must be more beneficial for the practical engineering application. Chang Kuo-Chun 張國鎮 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 315 zh-TW
