Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 機械工程學研究所 === 95 === Recently, there has been growing interest in actuators using electroactive polymers due to their large strain, high strength, and simple microfabrication process. The emerging biomedical applications of the electroactive polymers such as artificial muscles are being developed. Consequently, detailed characterization of the polymer actuators is needed. Study of actuators using conductive polymer and IPMC (Ionic Polymer-Metal Composites) is conducted in this work. Electrochemically deposited polypyrrole layers on polyimide films are fabricated, and the deformation of the bilayer film is measured at different driving voltage. Conductive PDMS is used to measure the force generated by the bilayer actuator, and a trilayer composite which integrates actuator and sensor into single component is proposed. IPMC actuators are fabricated with platinum-coated Nafion films and are tested in air. The force generated by the IPMC actuator is determined by a load cell. Results of this study details characteristics of the polymer actuators and provide conceptual guidelines for controlling these polymer actuators in future applications.
