The lyrics are those short lovely poems which characteristic with fantastic style. This song cycle was composed for his great friend soprano Duyal’s 6-year-old son and was first performed by Duyal. Seven short poems are contained in this composition and the order is: Le Sommeil, Quelle Aventure, Le Reine de coer, Le Carafon and Lune d’avril. This paper will first intend to focus on the origin of French Mélodie in late 19th century and the forming of ‘French six’, and then turn to discuss the style,charac- teristic and performing technique of this song cycle in hopes to present the spe- cial music syntax and charm of Poulenc through.
