He became well-known to the world only in recent years. Although he only produced a small amount of works on woodwinds composition, but each piece of his work possess many distinctive/unique styles such as extremely simple style and folk song style. In this work, he artfully mixed five distinctive styles throughout the composition and he combined them so smoothly that one cannot easily distinguish the shift in music style from one to another as the composition is play on. To be able to combine so many different musical languages into one piece of composition and also make it to present a distinct characteristic at the same time is what attracts me to learn more about the contemporary art culture and music creation environment in England at that time. I intended to do a deep analysis on the music language and its meaning used throughout this composition. This thesis is divided into five Chapters: The first chapter is the general introduction of the thesis. The second chapter is an introduction to Gerald Finzi’s live, his music style and his music creations in brief. The third chapter analyzes the music style of the clarinet five bagatelles. The fourth chapter is a discussion on the performance and practice of the clarinet bagatelles. The fifth chapter is the conclusion. Wei-lin Chen none 陳威稜 林佩筠 2006 學位論文 ; thesis 86 zh-TW
