Later on, some more advanced products (multimedia players) were also available in the market. Most of these kinds of products transfer the multimedia data through line transmission. These products may not have the ability of downloading music or video data through a wireless network. In this case, there is a limitation for getting desired music or video files anytime anywhere when the users use these portable equipments outdoors. As the wireless network systems (services) are getting more and more popular, it becomes very convenient for users to access the Internet by wireless networks. Therefore, if the portable multimedia players have the wireless access ability, there will be much additional value on them. This thesis presents an implementation of ARM-9 based wireless portable multimedia player system. In this thesis, we use ARM-9 QT2410E development board and a high stability operation system, Embedded Linux, to design and implement an ARM-9 based wireless portable multimedia player system. The system consists of a server which stores multimedia data and portable multimedia players. The implemented portable multimedia player can wireless download multimedia data by Http or Ftp through the server and play the downloaded data. The multimedia player also has a connection interference that can connect with another one to exchange music or video data.
