However, the quantitative research of users’ responses on environmental aesthetics in public open spaces is less studied. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to understand the users’ responses and evaluation on the public open spaces built on the basis of environmental aesthetics. The Urban Spotlight of Kaohsiung, model of environmental aesthetical planning and tourism attraction in Kaohsiung public open space, is chosen as case study in this research. The study results are as following: 1. The findings of the survey indicated that most of the respondents were unmarried females, aged between 21 and 30 ,from southern Taiwan. Moreover, most tourists show high-willing for revisiting. 2. In environmental aesthetical cognition, for the part of formal aesthetics, “the space is wide” is experienced as the highest degree, and “the good quality of the facility and material of the whole space ”, “the organization of the whole space is successive (consistent)” is experienced as the lowest degree. For the part of symbolic aesthetic, “the feeling which is full of romantic and humanity “ is experienced as the highest degree, and “ the impressions of sunshine, power being fully developed “ is experienced as the lowest degree. 3. It was found from one way ANOVA, “profession”, “income”, “tour times”, “motivation” and “environmental loving degree” in recreational characteristics of users indicate the significant difference for formal aesthetical cognition. “Specialist training”, “profession”, “tour times”, “motivation”, “Environmental loving degree” shows the significant difference for symbolic aesthetical cognition. 4. From the results of the factor analysis, there are four main factors of emotional experiences of Urban Spotlight, such as “relaxation”, “beautiful warm”, “dull atmosphere” and the “order vigor”. 5. “Education”, “profession”, “income”, “motivation”, “environmental loving degree” in the personal characteristics and the recreational characteristics of users show significant difference for factors of emotional experiences. 6. The factors of formal aesthetics and the factors as “beautiful warm” and “order vigor” of space emotional experiences show high and middle correlation. 7. Three emotional experiences factors such as “relaxation”, “beautiful warm”, and “order vigor” show positive influence on “environmental loving degree”.
