The knowledge economy that makes world globalize, requires the language education as communication platform for promoting the national competitiveness. With the development of computer science and technology and internet, using multimedia for the content of courses and using internet as delivers platform, has become the direction that each educator must consider. We hope to make use of the simplified Chinese characters teaching with multimedia content via internet platform as an example for school teacher to use as teaching resources. In the thesis we have designed and built ‘ Multimedia Online System For Teaching Simplified Chinese Characters ’ using Flash MX, ASP action scripting language and Microsoft Access and Database to develop such system. This system will help the learners to study the simplified Chinese characters more easily. This internet-based system use Multimedia to make learning Simplified Chinese Characters more easily. The system focus on interactive learning. There are also online assessment questionnaire to record learner’s opinion. Hopefully that will raise their interest and efficiency to study Simplified Chinese Characters. This system use an internet-based learning platform to let learners use more easily and efficiency anywhere. Hopefully this system will set an example of using internet-based platform for life-long learning activities.
