The program contains two units. The purpose is to study the effect on the target students’creativity and the achievement on the subject of Natural Science through Mind Mapping creative thinking pattern.
The research adopts nonequivalent pretest-posttest as the research pattern. Two classes for third graders of A primary school are taken and divided randomly into experiment and control groups. For the experiment group, they conduct the Natural Science Mind Mapping creative thinking teaching program 3 classes a week, for 8 weeks, totally 24 classes, while the control group conducts the traditional discoursing teaching program. The research tools here used are “New Creative Thinking Test” and “Achievement in the subject of Natural Science test” edited by Mr. 吳靜吉 in 1988. All the data obtained are analyzed through one-way ANCOVA.
According to the results of the research, the major findings are listed as the followings.
1. The change of verbal creativity in experiment group
(1) The difference in fluency between experiment group and control group in New Creative Thinking Test is eminent. The results indicate that experiment group is superior to control group in the fluency of verbal creativity.
(2) The difference in flexibility between experiment group and control group in New Creative Thinking Test is eminent. The results indicate that experiment group is superior to control group in the flexibility of verbal creativity.
(3) The difference in originality between experiment group and control group in New Creative Thinking Test is eminent. The results indicate that experiment group is superior to control group in the originality of verbal creativity.
2. The change of figure creativity in experiment group
(1) The difference in fluency between experiment group and control group in Figure Task of the New Creative Thinking Test is eminent. The results indicate that experiment group is superior to control group in the fluency of figure creativity.
(2) The difference in flexibility between experiment group and control group in Figure Task of the New Creative Thinking Test is eminent. The results indicate that experiment group is superior to control group in the flexibility of figure creativity.
(3) The difference in originality between experiment group and control group in Figure Task of the New Creative Thinking Test is eminent. The results indicate that experiment group is superior to control group in the originality of figure creativity.
(4) The difference in elaboration between experiment group and control group in Figure Task of the New Creative Thinking Test is eminent. The results indicate that experiment group is superior to control group in the elaboration of figure creativity.
3. The change of Achievement in the subject of Natural Science in experimental group
(1) The difference between experiment group and control group in the unit of “Animal Rhapsody” is eminent. The results indicate that experiment group is superior to control group in Achievement in the subject of Natural Science test.
(2) The difference between experiment group and control group in the unit of “Wondrous Water” is eminent. The results indicate that experiment group is superior to controlled group in Achievement in the subject of Natural Science test.
4. The Natural Science Mind Mapping teaching program is not only popular among the students but also highly adoptable.
The researcher according to the results of this research brings up the concrete suggestions to the conducting Natural Science Mind Mapping creative thinking teaching program in the primary school and the research as future reference.
