| Summary: | 碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 中國語文學系碩士班 === 95 === “Oracles of Kuan Di” are very popular in Taiwan. They are not only widespread
among temples in Taiwan, but also adored by Chinese in Hong Kong, Macao, and
foreign countries. Among many domestic Kuan Di temples, “Oracles of Kuan Di” are
still currently prevalent. They have been collected and published by many publishers
as references of interpretation. Moreover, some people even illustrate these oracles on
web-pages so people all over the world can directly request them and find the
interpretation online. Therefore, the influence of “Oracles of Kuan Di” is becoming
deeper and wider. “Oracles of Kuan Di”, according to the content, can be categorized
into Ningbo Oracles and Jiangdong Oracles, but Jiangdong Oracles is the only one
prevalent in Taiwan. Therefore, Jiangdong Oracles is the research subject in this thesis
and the discussion would focus on the historical background, content, and meaning.
This thesis includes six chapters as follows:
Chapter 1：Introduction
Introducing the motive of study, relevant literature reviews, the purpose of study,
and research method and range.
Chapter 2：Kuan Di Belief and the Background of Oracles of Kuan Di
Organizing the literatures about Kuan Yu’s deeds and his image of godhood,
introducing various versions of Oracles of Kuan Di and their spread, and discussing
Kuan Di belief and the background of Oracles of Kuan Di on the basis of the
historical origin.
Chapter 3：Discussion of the Content and Style of Oracles of KuanDi—Jiangdong
Oracles
Defining oracles, indicating characteristics of the context, and discussing the
structure of each oracle.
Chapter 4：Artistic Exploration of Oracles of Kuan Di—Jiangdong Oracles
Referring to relevant literatures in Taoism, philology, and rhetoric, and analyzing
the rhetorical skills and the presentation of prophecy in Jiangdong Oracles.
Chapter 5：Study of the Interpretation of Oracles of Kuan Di—Jiangdong
Oracles
Inducing and organizing various interpretation items in Jiangdong Oracles, and discussing the cultural and social meaning revealed in the interpretation of oracles.
Chapter 6：Conclusion
Summarizing the content of previous chapters, inducing the study result, and ensuring the academic value of this thesis.
