With the aid of the above, the author can perform the sonata with a more precise interpretation. The paper is divided into six chapters. Chapter One is an introduction that expresses the motive and objective of this research. Chapter Two contains Schubert's biography and his contemporary social atmosphere by stating the historical background in his era, his progress of life and his music compositions. The characteristics of Schubert's music compositions are also explored. Chapter Three consists of the compositional background of Schubert’s A Major Violin Sonata, discusses the evolution of sonata form (sonata principle) and the compositional backgrounds of his four violin sonatas. Chapter Four focuses on Form and Analysis. The author analyzes and studies the harmonic progression, the development of motives and the structures of sections. With the analysis of the above, the author will achieve a higher state of cognition in this sonata’s musical structure in all aspects. Chapter Five comprises performance practice and music interpretation. Through the investigation of different editions of the sonata and the comparison of music recordings from the author’s interpretation. Chapter Six is the conclusion where the author concludes and induces the research and discovery of the previous five chapters.
