Furthermore, the shape, size, and hardness of them and the related positions between them are closely correlated with the control, safety and comfort of riding a bicycle. The parts most easily feeling uncomfortable are the hand and handlebar of a bicycle when riding it. Therefore, in this study, a multi-position adjustment frame was used to simulate the bicycling attitude of mountain bicycle, city bicycle as well as ladies bicycle with the varying diameter of handlebars, hardness of texture as well as riding speed, and the pressures of various region of the hands were measured by the Pressure Sensitivity Meter(PSM). There are two stages in the study, including the pre-experiment which is to understand the pressure correlation of riding time with the joint angle and the types of bicycle, and the main experiment which is to know the tendency of pressure of every parts of the hand through the ANOVA and Multiple Regression of the pressure. Then the parameter of the handlebar can be allocated optimally in accordance with the hands, and the most comfortable handlebar of bicycles between different types of them can be designed. This result shows that the trend of hands pressure of mountain bicycle is the highest, and that of ladies bicycle is the lowest. There is no significant change on pressure of the hands and joint angle with the increase of riding time. Then the parameter of handlebar design is analyzed by the pressure distribution of the region. The handlebar design for mountain bicycle should be focused on upper part of metacarpal bone II (region between metacarpal bone and phalanx joint), the central part of each metacarpal bone, and the base of metacarpal bone of middle finger and ring finger; for city bicycle, it is focused on right part of metacarpal bone I (phalanx of middle finger and ring finger, and the joint of metacarpal bone) and central part of metacarpal bone of ring finger; for ladies bicycle, it is focused on metacarpal bone I (the joints between the metacarpal bone and phalanx) and the central part of the middle finger metacarpal bone. Therefore, this study can offer the reference to the future handlebar design of bicycle, to make consumers choice the suitable handlebars in accordance with the types of bicycle and ride a bicycle most comfortably.
