ZnFe2O4/TiO2 -immobilized granular activated carbon (GAC) was employed as the photocatalysts which were obtained using sol-gel process based on titanium n-butoxide, combined with zinc ferrite solution and calcined at 500℃. The resulting material was characterized by spectroscopic X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray microanalyses (SEM-EDX). The photocatalytic activity is the best with the molar ratio of ZnFe2O4 doped on TiO2 to be 0.5% for the photodegradation of phenol in aqueous solution. Activity measurements of prepared photocatalysts with visible lamp have shown good performance for the photodegradation of phenol in aqueous solution. The kinetic law for the photocatalytic degradation was determined to apparently be pseudo first-order with respect to the concentration of phenol.
