The purpose of this research is to understand the factors of causing the nostalgic emotion, to find out nostalgic scenes in different generations, and the connection between nostalgic emotion and nostalgic objects. By interviewing and investigating case by case, we can understand what touches off the nostalgic emotions, nostalgic scenes, nostalgic objects and each type of nostalgic objects including it’s thread of thoughts; and then analyze the connections between nostalgic emotions and nostalgic objects. Basic on the interview and the results from each case in this study, it is found that there are nine inducements of nostalgic, which include story, object, affair, cognition, scene, memory, cines trip, character and sense. The nostalgic time in each generation mostly happens to be when they are in elementary school, and there are three patterns to induce nostalgic: (1) spontaneity (2) advance gradually (3) passivity. According to what they had described, we can divide the types of nostalgic in each generation into: enjoyment and having fun type, pragmatic and contentment type, and hard-working type. The point of describing nostalgic scene in 20th generation is “object combines story”; in 30th generation is “object combines story”; in 40th generation is “story combines cines trip”; and in 50th generation, because they had a tough background then, therefore they are mostly affected by affairs. This research aims at how they describe nostalgic objects in each generation, first of all, we had found 207 nostalgic pictures, according to their functions, we divide them into: things that are used for living needs and things that are used for entertainment. Then we divide the things we use for living needs into: house need equipment, technical products, personal belonging, food and transportation. The entertainment products can divide in: toys, stars, TV commercials and video games. Each generation has their own nostalgic products that stand for themselves. In the 20th generations are mostly toys and house-need equipments. In the 30th generation, it has equally separated in house-need equipments. In the 40th generation are mostly toys, house-need equipments and transportation stands in second place. Those including or above 50th generation are mostly house-need equipments, toys, technical products and TV commercials stand in second place. Due to this result, this study has discovered that there are clear differences between the connection between nostalgic scenes and nostalgic products. Different nostalgic products in different generations can surely represent the connection between generation’s nostalgic emotion and memory, and also affect society evolution and the characteristics of fashion at that time. This research not only established the thread of understanding each nostalgic product’s evolution, and different nostalgic scenes and different nostalgic products in different generations, but can also provide in how to put nostalgic emotions into market selling of product designing for industrial design or product cognition, product useable value, product semantics as references for academic studies in the future.
