| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 企業管理系碩士班 === 95 === The appearance of aging society has leaded to several issues, such as transformations of social pattern, economic pattern, and consumption pattern, which might influence the developments of countries.For recent years, chronic and degenerative diseases has been the main determinant causing deaths of people; furthermore, with the increasing population with cardiovascular diseases, the demand for medical treatment has sharply escalated, and it also generated profitable market for medical devices manufacturers. Nowadays, the competition in the market of medical devices related to chronic and degenerative diseases became extremely fierce.Lead companies, such as Johnson& Johnson、Boston Scientific、Guidant、Medtronic、Abbott, were engaged in strategic alliances and acquisitions for obtaining competitive advantage, key and basic patents.
The main objectives of this study is to adopt network analysis of patent priority for the purpose of measuring and defining basic and key patents via degree and centrality and betweenness centrality. The findings revealed that the development of patent of family originated in basic patents, US 52627395, US 42488495A, US 66349096A, US66351896A; in addition, innovation and knowledge spillover of individual derived from key patents, US 52627395, US 42488495A.
Based on the findings of this study, managerial implications were presented to improve firms''strategies on patent portfolio for better understanding technology contexts of competitors and co-petition through patent citation.
