Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 營建工程系碩士班 === 95 === With information technology rapidly growing, researchers in construction engineering keep working hard on innovating computer applications to enhance work efficiency. The computation of construction material quantities is one of those tasks which can be dealt with computer technologies. The construction material quantities are meant to be the areas of formworks and the volumes of concrete of walls, beams, and pillars. Generally, computing by hands or by evaluation computer software are two major methods for quantity calculation. There are few disadvantages with performing these two methods: 1.Time consuming. 2.Accumulative errors and typos produced from manually computing. 3.Leaving some area out of consideration. 4.Personnel’s lack of graphic working experience to perform the calculation jobs. 5.Original system limitations, such as format of input data, etc. The accuracy of construction material quantity is one of the most important factors for controlling building cost in construction industry. From past researches and literatures, the inconsistency between the total costs with the amount listed in the contract is the top-two controversial issue between owners and contractors. In addition, contractors have to be in charge of the lost if partial quantity is omitted, and it causes another controversial issue. On the other hand, 3D visualization is a computer technology applied in construction industry, such as interior design and virtual reality. The digital blueprints coming from AutoCAD (Computer Aided Design) help users to view the design in three-dimension. However, the major tasks of CAD are drawing and visualization. Users need to calculate material quantities by hands with their imagination due to the lack of data for quantity calculation. This research presents an automatic scheme of construction material quantity computation. The system constructs a three dimensional architecture model based on CAD image files. Through transformation matrix and vector computation, the system will calculate and show the material quantities (i.e., areas of from works, and volumes of concrete) of each component users need. It provides an easy user interface for construction engineers to calculate construction material quantities automatically and accurately through the 3D wire-frame architecture structure to reduce manpower and enhance the accuracy.
