Considerable progress has been made in the understanding of the sequential activation of signal transduction pathways and the expression of transcription factors during pancreas development, including the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), Notch, Hedgehog pathways and PDX1, Ptf1a, Ngn3, Nkx family. Previously, a novel gene product (RBMS3) which contains two pairs of RNA binding motifs was found to be expressed strongly in early embryonic pancreas with the use of microarray assay and had been confirmed by in situ hybridization, immunofluorecsence and immunohistochemical staining. In addition, RBMS3 has also been shown to be expressed in hepatic stellate cells (HSCs). Its presence in HSCs stabilize the mRNA encoding the transcription factor Prx1 and thus increase collagen Ming-Ko Chiang 江明格 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 92 en_US
