The enterprises can develop the information systems faster, advance the integration among different systems, respond to the changes of business logic quickly, and make the systems more flexible. This study applied the Modified Delphi Method to explore the critical factors affecting the adoption of SOA in the hospitals in Taiwan. Literature review found the factors in four dimensions, namely organizational, environmental, decision-maker, and technology characteristics. Fourteen experts were then recruited and a two-round expert survey was completed. The results concluded fifteen critical factors affecting the adoption intention of SOA into hospitals. These critical factors are top management’s innovativeness, top management’s attitude towards IT, size of the hospital, internal information need, top management’s support, top management’s perception and expectation, capability of information department employees, learning intention of information department employees, the degree of web-based information systems, cost, compatibility, integration, expandability, security, and IT suppliers support.
