Description
Summary:博士 === 國立中正大學 === 電機工程所 === 96 === High-speed and secure network system, which requires high-speed searching function for table lookup, is in high demand for communication of human beings. For building high-speed and secure network environment, the challenge is to design the high-speed and low-power searching component for dealing with the rapidly growing size of routing table and virus database. The content-addressable memory (CAM) is an important component for accelerating search operation in many applications due to its parallel searching operation. However, the high power consumption is the drawback of content-addressable memory. In this dissertation, several circuit techniques are proposed to realize high-speed and low-power CAMs for network applications. For TCAM-based network system, two techniques are proposed to realize high-performance and low-power TCAM for IP address lookup. One technique is the tree AND-type match-line scheme for high search speed. The other technique is the segmented search-line scheme for low power consumption. According to the measurement results, the implemented 1.8V 0.18µm 256
